Free World

I wrote earlier with regards to Kinky Friedmans stance to the legalization of marijuana. Prison is not the place for people caught with marijauna. Many of these people fall prey to the more violent offenders. Many of these offenders(1/4 ounce and less) come from small Texas townships and receive more time than offenders convicted of child molestation, rape, murder, etc. After having spent a few years as a Correctional Officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I have formed an opinion about life on the inside from a free world perspective. If every State in America keeps on sending these people found to be in possession of marijauna. America is going to create more gang activity. Because unless an offender can take care of themselves in prison. I.e. "Know how to fight". Then these offenders will join a gang in order to gain protection from offenders from other races. I.e. Whites, Hispanics, Afro-American's, etc. Or become their girlfriend. And even then, nothing is certain. I have worked in 2250 maximum security prisons and in State jail facilities. And there is one thing that I know for sure. Texas prisons are over populated. Legalize Marijauna. We as citizens should and must. Save the prison space for the violent offenders of and in America's societies. Remember that in Texas a Child Molester will make parole faster than someone caught with marijauna.
